Whenever I feel down, I always sit back and enjoy a good TV show that can instantly uplift my mood. I mostly resort to sitcoms since they are short episodes and are easier to binge. Over the years, I’ve watched a collection of shows and I thought it best to share them in the article. Here are some of my top picks:
Schitt’s Creek
Schitt’s Creek is most certainly among my favorite sitcoms of all time. It is about the Rose family that used to be super rich but due to some unforeseen circumstances, they go broke. They resort to their only remaining asset, Schitt’s Creek.
Schitt’s Creek is a small town that the family bought as part of a running joke and after going broke, it is all that they have left. The entire family has to give up their life of extravagance as they gel in with the townspeople. Not only is this show funny but it is also very wholesome; the kind of show that you shouldn’t miss out on.
The Good Place
If you want the kind of show that motivates you to be a good person while you enjoy a few laughs, then you should watch The Good Place. The Good Place is an idea of heaven and the protagonist, Eleanor Shellstrop is surprised to find herself going there in the afterlife after spending a very questionable life.
Eleanor eventually realizes that she is there by mistake and she must pretend like she is a good person, fake it till you make it basically. Throughout her time in the Good Place, Eleanor does her best to stay out of the sights of the architect of the Good Place, Michael, and his all-knowing assistant Janet.
Eleanor becomes friends with her neighbors Tahani, Jason, and Chidi. All of them play their own parts in helping Eleanor become a better person as she traverses through the events of the Good Place. They also discuss some sociological theories which if you pay attention to, they can make you a better person too!
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
8 seasons of absolute bliss, there is no other way to describe how amazing Brooklyn Nine-Nine is. The show is about the fictional 99th precinct in Brooklyn and all the shenanigans that go on in every detective’s life.
The story revolves around Jake Peralta, a talented cop who has a hard time growing up. He never had to follow the rules of the precinct until the arrival of Captain Raymond Holt who is a real stickler for the rules. However, with time, Captain Holt gels in with the rest of his squad and becomes as fun-loving as them. Not only is this show tremendously funny right from the beginning, but it is also as wholesome as it can be.
In fact, whenever I’m eating something I always have the show playing. I’ve binged all the seasons at least 15 times. However, binging is only fun when you have a reliable internet service, otherwise you’re just sitting there staring at the buffering wheel. My Xfinity Internet service always lets me binge TV shows as flawlessly as possible, and I suggest that you do the same too!
Pro Tip: You can get Xfinity Internet connection at a reduced cost if you look into Xfinity Packages. You can add another service such as a TV service at a discounted rate!
Modern Family
Speaking of wholesome shows, this list would have been incomplete without mentioning Modern Family. It is about a dysfunctional family and the day-to-day events of their lives. However, what I love most about this show is that every episode has something to teach you about family at the end. This show is great for bringing families together, which makes it a perfect choice to watch with your family.
The most prominent characters of the show include Phil Dunphy and his wife Claire along with their kids Luke, Alex, and Haley Dunphy. Claire’s gay brother Mitchell, his husband Cameron, and their adopted daughter Lily. Claire and Mitchell’s father Jay and his Latino wife Gloria and her son Manny.
Some of the episodes of the show are so wholesome that they even had me in tears. You should definitely watch Modern Family at least once so that you can open new horizons to the importance of family.
Pushing Daisies
This show is a little underrated, but it is a great watch! The show is about a young pie-maker, Ned, who has the ability to bring anything back to life with a single touch, but only for a few moments. However, every time he brings someone back, there are some serious repercussions to it.
He uses his ability to bring back his childhood sweetheart from the dead because her death was untimely. Not only this, but he also pairs up with Private Eye Emerson Cod to solve a series of murders that had little to no clues. The show is pretty interesting to watch, make sure you don’t miss out on it.
A Few Bonus Shows
Of course, this list would have been incomplete without mentioning some of the classics including Friends, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, and Malcolm in the Middle!
